Wheels for Freedom - providing mobility in Poole and at public events

Latest news

Between April and September we will be opening on some Fridays and Saturdays and also operating a "collect a scooter" service where we will take scooters to a popular tourist spot for the day enabling our members to enjoy different surroundings.

Phone lines and online booking for Out n about events will open on April 3rd.  I am delighted to announce that we will be returning to the Stock Gaylard Oak Fair during September 2018.

The Dorset Community Trust have very kindly awarded us £5,000 to help us fund our service this year and have also agreed the same amount for next year.  This is wonderful news to us and we thank them most sincerely.

We are delighted that the Big Lottery Fund have awarded us nearly £10,000 for a Wheels for Freedom Shopmobility development project.

We will be able to use the funding to run a promotional campaign and outreach events to raise awareness of the service and pilot a mentoring scheme for people with disabilities.  This is to build capacity for the development of the service and hence lead to our clients having a more involved social life and help to combat social isolation for those affected.

Thanks to a wonderful Grant from the Talbot Village Trust and ACT Foundation we have been able to purchase more mobility scooters for our Out n' About service.  These scooters will carry a larger weight than the majority of our other units and will increase the capacity of our service.

Volunteers are desperately needed - if you can help us please phone us on 01202 661770.
